On
the roster of the New York City Opera from 1993
to 1997, Diana has appeared in “Griffelkin” as
the Devils’ Grandmother, “H.M.S. Pinafore” as
Buttercup, “Le Nozze di Figaro” as Marcellina
and “The Mikado” as Katisha. A student of Era
Tognoli, the New Jersey native was a Young
Artist in the Juilliard Opera Center during
1990-92 and while there was seen as Dame Quickly
in “Falstaff” and the Old Baroness in “Vanessa”
and was invited back as a guest artist in
“L’lncornazione di Poppea” as Arnalta in 1994.
Awards to her credit are a full
Fellowship to the Aspen Music Festival, Aspen
Young Artist Vocal Competition Winner at the
Aspen Music Festival, Juilliard’s Lucrezia Bori
Grant, the Licia AlbaneselPuccini Foundation
Award, as well as being a finalist in the
Luciano PavarottilOpera Company of Philadelphia
International Competition.
Diana has appeared in concert and
performance with such opera luminaries as Robert
Merrill, Jerome Hines, Teresa Kubiak, Eugenio
Fernandi and Gilda Cruz-Romo.
She performed in concert at the
Uruguayan Embassy, Buenos Aires, Argentina and
has been seen numerous times with the Ars Musica
Chorale performing Mascagni, Handel, Beethoven
and Rossini works as well as in performance as
Maria in “Mose” at Alice Tully Hall and Fenena
in “Nabucco”. She also toured with the Chorale
in concert through the U.K. ending at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Other credits include Marthe in
“Faust”, La Principessa in “Suor Angelica”, Zita
in “Gianni Schicchi, Amneris in “Aida”, Azucena
in “II Trovatore” and as Marcellina in “Le Nozze
di Figaro” with the Metro Lyric Opera.
She repeated the role of Azucena
with the Hawaii Opera and appeared in DeFalla’s
“El Amor Brujo” with the Monmouth Symphony
Orchestra.
She reprised her role as Little
Buttercup in “H.M.S. Pinafore” with the Virginia
Opera in the Spring of 1998. Another Gilbert and
Sullivan role to her credit is Ruth in “The
Pirates of Penzance” with the Ocean City Pops,
NJ as well as The Mother Abbess in “The Sound of
Music both with the Ocean City Pops, NJ and the
Gold Coast Opera, FL.
Diana has
performed in the Festival of the Atlantic with
the Rev. Alphonse Stephenson and the Orchestra
of St. Peter-by-the-Sea and can be heard on
their recordings “A Sea of Christmas” and “Our
Land.” She also debuted in concert with with
them at Carnegie Hall.
She was honored in 1997 by her Alma Mater, Pace
University, as a Distinguished Alumna.
